Getting Ready for Sunday | 04/07/2019
We will gather together again on Sunday, April 6th at 4pm for the Holy Eucharist.
In addition to the texts below, we will hear and dwell up on the third of Thomas Cranmer's Comfortable Words which is this verse from St. Paul's first letter to St. Timothy: "The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners" (1 Timothy 1:15).
This scripture verse and our nearness to Holy Week and Good Friday evoke this passage from the meditations of Thomas Traherne:
"The Cross of Christ is the Jacob’s ladder by which we ascend into the highest heavens. There we see joyful Patriarchs, expecting Saints, Prophets ministering Apostles publishing, and Doctors teaching, all Nations concentering, and Angels praising. That Cross is a tree set on fire with invisible flame, that Illuminateth all the world. The flame is Love: the Love in His bosom who died on it."
