Getting Ready for Sunday, 8/5/2018

At Incarnation, we've all been there-- just getting to church can be hectic and stressful, and we often arrive on Sundays feeling anything but "worship-full". To better prepare our hearts for worship, we are starting a blog entry called, "Getting Ready for Sunday." We'll include scripture readings, songs we will sing, and any questions/thoughts/quotes to get our hearts and minds right for our gathering.

After a brief break, we are gathering together again on Sunday, August 5 at 4pm. Take a few moments in the next days to read below and prepare your heart for worship: "Sometimes it seems as if our society has become dependent on the maintenance of [artificial worries]. What would happen if we stopped worrying? If the urge to be entertained so much, to travel so much, to buy so much, and to arm ourselves so much no longer motivated our behavior, could our society as it is today still function? The tragedy is that we are indeed caught in a web of false expectations and contrived needs. Our occupations and preoccupations fill our external and internal lives to the brim. They prevent the Spirit of God from breathing freely in us and thus renewing our lives." ― Henri J.M. Nouwen, The Spiritual Life: Eight Essential Titles by Henri Nouwen
